For the 17th time students from the Institute for Creative Leather Technologies (ICLT) Northampton, visited TFL in Italy. The programme organized by TFL started on Sunday afternoon, the 20th of May in Tuscany, where the students were invited to assess the inclination of the famous leaning tower of Pisa.
The next day started with a visit to the tannery Incas, from where the group went straight on to TFL's new Global Fashion Centre in Castelfranco di Sotto (PI). The students got an overview of the latest TFL technologies, combined with the fashion for the coming seasons. They enjoyed a presentation on TFL's Fashion Collection for Autumn/Winter 2019-2020, as well as a presentation on the Pantone technology. In the afternoon the students got the opportunity to explore Florence.
During the coming days, the students were welcomed to TFL's Automotive Centre in Montebello (VI). Under the guidance of the finishers of the TFL fashion team, a group of students created articles. The remaining students were introduced to the secrets of automotive finishing.
Methods for cleaning the grain in the beamhouse, as well as techniques to reduce blood veins were revealed and, last but not least, the technology of making waterproof leathers was shared by experts from the wet-end technical team.
In addition they took part at an interactive workshop at Erretre in Arzignano and at the Officine di Cartigliano, followed by sightseeing and dinner.
To complete their interesting stay, the students were shown around the wastewater plant of Acque del Chiampo in Arzignano. At Gemata in Trissino another interactive workshop was held and the programme was concluded by paying a visit to a raw hide company in Padova.
