The education of future generations is very important to TFL. Therefore, TFL contributes significantly to the support of local and international training institutes.
In the past 16 years TFL and the University of Northampton have had a close collaboration. In May 2017, TFL Academy welcomed again a group of students from the ICLT (Institute for Creative Leather Technologies), University of Northampton, UK. This training week on leather technologies was joined by four students from the Italian High School for Tanning Technology ITIS G. Galilei.
The workshop offered the possibility to experience the entire cycle of the tanning process, based on the most innovative machineries available in the market and to present/discuss the final results of their laboratory activities in front of the entire group.
The training included several trials with TFL technologies and their practical application in the laboratories, giving consideration to the ecological aspects involved in the leather making process. Visits to local machinery producers, to the High School for Leather Technology (ITIS Galilei) and to the Waste Water Treatment Plant in Arzignano completed this full immersion experience in the world of leather.
The TFL Academy is looking forward to continuing such training in order to support the education of future generations of leather technicians, technologists and scientists.
